Huntsman withdrew on January 16 after finishing third in the New Hampshire, where media expectations were higher. Throughout the campaign, he got polite, if sporadic, attention from the press. One reason the tone of his coverage was slightly more positive than negative is he never seemed viable enough to trigger a persistent vetting.
