Missouri News Horizon
Launched in 2009, The Missouri News Horizon seeks to “promote greater transparency in government, and to encourage dissemination and dialogue of news and information in the state of Missouri.” While the outlet does not discuss its funding, a Columbia Missourian article from 2010 quoted a source from the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity saying the Center had given Missouri News Horizon a sponsorship grant. The Franklin Center seeks to “investigate and inform the public about waste, fraud, abuse, ethical questions and safety concerns involving the use of taxpayer dollars,” and was launched with the help of the Sam Adams Alliance, a free-market think tank.
